⭐ 2025 ⭐
Dear Highland Park Parents & Guardians,
Each year, Highland Park hosts a two-day Talent Show. This will be a great opportunity to showcase the special talents and skills of our amazing K-5 students. This year’s shows will be Monday, May 12 & Tuesday, May 13. Both shows will take place in the cafeteria during the school day in the afternoon (time TBA). Due to limited space, performing students are asked to bring only two guests.
A talent act is anything that you are good at, and that can be put into a routine that an audience will enjoy. Students should choose something that they feel confident in and have experience in. A “talent” is something that can be made into a routine and be enjoyed by an audience, such as singing, dancing, playing an instrument, jump rope, cheer, twirling, comedy, magic acts, hula hoops, tumbling, skits, puppet shows, martial arts, sports, or even art.
Students interested in performing will audition. All acts must follow these guidelines:
Coordinating acts, props, costumes, and rehearsals is the student's responsibility. No rehearsal time will be given at school except for dress rehearsals before the show.
Certain props and costumes can be borrowed from school (don’t be afraid to ask).
Music must be given to Mrs. Rose before auditions (email a file or link).
For singing acts, the song file must be without vocals (i.e. karaoke or instrumental). It is your responsibility to find this track and send it to Mrs. Rose. Look on YouTube, etc.
Costumes don’t need to be worn for auditions, but bring any props needed for the act.
Students can participate in one to two acts, but not two solo acts.
Groups can have up to twelve people, and can only include Highland Park students in their own grade level, due to our daily schedules.
Choose groups wisely! Once you commit to a group, you all must participate. If one person quits, the act will be cancelled.
Acts must be approximately 1-4 minutes long.
Acts, including music and costumes, must be school appropriate. If you are unsure if any part of your act is inappropriate for school, check with Mrs. Rose.
5th graders can audition to host/introduce acts in the show. To audition, they will read a few lines. This doesn’t count as an “act” and doesn’t have to be memorized.
All acts must be performed from memory (lyrics, scripts, dance, etc.).
All students must return a signed permission form by Friday, March 21.
Auditions will be held the first two weeks of April (during the school day), and results will be announced a few days later.
If you have any questions about this information, don’t hesitate to email me at any time.
Thanks!
Mrs. Rose
